A Covid Christmas

This ingenous poem, written by Jospeh David, was sent to the studio by a dear friend, Sasha. Setting the poem to a medley of Christmas instrumentals made immediate sense. So it is this Homespun rendition of a Covid Christmas is dedicated to Sasha.

Gentle on My Mind

Started singing on stage with Brother Bill and the Twenty Valley Boys in 1963, graduated to The Seaway Singers in 1965 and then performed 1000 nights with Brian M. in Double Scotch 1981 - 85.

Gentle on My Mind is dedicated to Brother Bill, and recorded as a tribute to the great writing and recording of Johnny Hartford and the memory of the amazing and gifted entertainer, Glen Campbell.

I‘ll Have to Say I Love You in a Song

This is a Homespun version of I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song and is my tribute to the great Jim Croce who died tragically in a plane crash and like so many famous folk, far too, young. Produced at StonewallStudios here in the heart of Niagara.

Georgia Rose

Way down in the Blue Ridge Mountains where bluegrass was first played and heard comes the song and the story about Georgia Rose written and sung originally by Bill Monroe - the grandfather of Bluegrass. This Homespun version of the story of Georgia Rose being Bill Monroe's daughter was recorded here at StonewallStudios in the heart of Niagara.

Cats in The Cradle

I sang Cats in the Cradle for our son and his new wife at their wedding reception more than 22 years ago. They moved to Nashville in the summer of 2019  -we plan is to get there soon!

I‘ll Fly Away

A day after releasing the Homespun version of Why Me Lord, a Homespinner messaged and asked if I would do more gospel music. I said, of course, why not, especially at this time of year. Albert E Brumley wrote I’ll fly Away in 1929 and published it in 1932. He lived 10 miles north of the Arkansas line. The Ozark’s influenced him. He wrote 800 songs in total. This is Homespun version based on the arrangement recorded by Allison Krause.

 

Caledonia

When your blood is from Scotland images and songs like Caledonia make it flow warm straight to and from the heart. This is a tribute to the life and music of Dougie McLean.

This a story about the song and a song about the story of Bo Jangles and the song for him written by Jerry Jeff Walker.
